While not typically the most commonly noted effects of welding rod use, chronic bronchitis, deposits in the lungs and respiratory problems are also believed to be medically linked to welding rod fume inhalation. More research is needed to present a direct linkage between the two, but ongoing studies are important in gathering evidence.
OSHA the Occupational Safety and Health Association now has standards for welding safety, and companies are required to adhere to these protocols. The National Electric Code and the National Electric Manufacturers Association also have published safety standards for welders.
